Rib Ride from Caernarfon or Menai Bridge allows individuals and groups the opportunity to embark on a one hour tour around some of the most scenic and historical places in the North of Wales.
The ancient royal town of Caernarfon is the most idyllic setting to base you tour across the glistening waters of North Wales. The Rib Ride can take you from Menai Bridge, or select trips from Caernarfons own dock. Riders can enjoy trips to either the rugged coastline of Llanddwyn Island as well as to and under some of the landmark bridges of the region.
Many of the Rib Ride trips depart from Porth Daniel at Menai Bridge, just a fifteen to twenty minute drive away from Black Boy Inn Accommodation in Caernarfon
Experience the tranquillity of the Menai Straits, tides and whirlpools. A Rib Rider can enjoy travelling past the battlements of Fort Belan and the four miles beach of Newborough. Protected by the sand banks of Caernarfon Bay, the Rib Ride will travel along to the ancient Celtic home of St Dwynwen – Welsh patron saint of lovers.
Its twin lighthouses will cap off a peninsula of outstanding beauty, white sand beaches and windswept rocks – providing a remote wildlife retreat that you are able to enjoy.
The vessels that you take to the water on are state of the art Ribs, selected especially for their sea handling and safety records. They are all equipped with powerful, but quiet 250 horsepower engines.
Bridges and Swellies
Going under Thomas Telford’s Menai Suspension Bridge, we enter the infamous Swellies, known for its shipwrecks, rocks and whirlpools. This trip takes riders under the Britannia Bridge to spot the Lions, whilst taking the time to see Lord Nelson’s statue. After viewing Plas Newydd, you are taken to see ‘Millionaires Row’, topping off the adrenaline adventure perfectly.

Puffin and Seals
This trip will take you on a highly unique view of Beaumaris Castle, whereby the towns brightly coloured seafront houses will delight you. You will head out into open sea areas, past old shipwrecks and on towards Puffin Island or Ynys Seiriol. This uninhabited Island is home to the largest nesting Cormorant population in the UK, as well as Puffins and seals that you will commonly get to see. The skippers are able to give you an insightful guide to the landscape, wildlife and history.

Castle and Islands
The Castle and Islands trip will give you a superb view of Caernarfon Castle, as well as taking you to Abermenai Point, passing the historic Napoleonic Fort Belan.
As you glide past the wonderful sand dunes of Newborough Warren, you will arrive soundly at Pilot Cove on Llanddwyn Island. If you are lucky, here you will spot seals and Harbour Porpoises, before heading back.
